Forest School

In September 2015 we introduced Forest School for our children in the Early Years. Forest School is a learning ethos with its roots in Scandinavia. It draws on progressive ideas about education to take learning outside, boosting stamina, enjoyment, concentration and motivation.

Each week our youngest girls put on their special kit and wellies and visit our large Forest School outdoor area which we are lucky enough to have on the school grounds. We;

tree_iconDiscover mini-beasts in our ‘bug hotel’

tree_iconMake anything and everything in our ‘mud kitchen’

tree_iconBuild dens,

tree_iconMake and cook on fires

tree_iconCollect treasures

tree_iconConstantly interact with the ever-changing flora and fauna that we leave to grow naturally

The benefits of Forest School for young children are plentiful. We see how the girls grow in confidence thanks to the freedom and space they are given.

We watch them develop independence, increasing their self-esteem and communication skills. It is so encouraging to see the girls develop a respect for the environment and such fun to see them enjoying being outside in the fresh air!
